Founded in 1950, Ain Shams University is a public university located in Cairo, Egypt. It was the third university to be founded in Egypt, and it was built on the site of a former royal home called Zaafarana Palace, which got its name from the saffron-growing region around it (called “zaafaran” in Arabic).

Farouk University was the name under which Alexandria University in Egypt was founded in 1938. Alexandria University was the new name given to it. The second-biggest institution in Egypt is called Alexandria institution. There are around 21 faculties and three institutes at Alexandria University Faculty of Medicine. Alexandria University established the medical faculty in 1942.

Egypt’s premier institution, the institution of Cairo, is located in the Giza neighbourhood across the Nile from Cairo. Although it was founded on December 21, 1908, its main campus—which houses its faculties—was not created until 1929. Numerous students have studied medicine at the University of Cairo every year.

The sixth-oldest university in Egypt is called Mansoura University. The campus spans around 300 acres and is situated on Mansoura’s southwest edge. The first university in Upper Egypt, Assiut University, was established in 1957. The university’s name is printed in typical Kofi letters, signifying the Arab era, and is illuminated by the Sun disc, Akhenaton’s motto representing Ancient Egypt, situated in the centre of the coat of arms that makes up the university logo.
